Care has become a concept through which it is possible to challenge stablished social dynamics and power relations that have manifestations in diverse areas including space. To achieve the transversalization of care and facilitate its inclusion in architectonic and housing design, it is essential to rethink and redefine methodologies, approaches and practices in order to improve design skills that allow students to identify and recognize the complexity of the dynamics and needs surrounding care activities. In this sense, participatory design with gender perspective is proposed as a tool to understand and include the diversity of users’ needs and experiences in the design process. The paper includes a complexity model for the situated study of care and daily life, as well as field work experiences with participatory design, with the purpose of promoting tools to incorporate care in housing design and teaching processes.
