International Proceedings

Author(s): Charlott Greub

Land Art as an Agent for “rewilding architectureâ€ delves into the transformative potential of Land Art as a form of counter-architecture, reequipping the land with its lost “naturalâ€ endowment. Focusing on two seminal works – Robert Smithson’s “Partially Buried Woodshedâ€, (1970) on a site at Kent State University in Ohio and Zago Architecture “Property with Propertiesâ€, (2012) on a ranch site in Rialto, California – this abstract explores the concept of “rewildingâ€ in architecture as a spatial reimagination or reformulation of a particular landscape that seeks to blend man-made structures with the “naturalâ€ landscape.
